Free State of Jones

In 1863, Mississippi farmer Newt Knight serves as a medic for the Army. Opposed to slavery, Knight would prefer to help the wounded compared to fight the Union. Newt returns home to Jones County to safeguard his loved ones but is soon branded an outlaw deserter although after his nephew dies in conflict. He finds refuge. Forging an alliance with farmers and the slaves, Knight leads a rebellion that could change history.
