Jacob

As told in the book of Genesis, young shepherd Jacob (Matthew Modine) falls in love with and wishes to marry Rachel (Lara Flynn Boyle), who is his Uncle Laban's niece and the daughter of his uncle Laban (Giancarlo Giannini). Having no money to buy Rachel's hand in marriage, Jacob works as an indentured servant for his uncle for seven years before he can propose to her. He is tricked into another seven years of hard labor by the cunning Laban, who has a plan. Jacob's mother, Irene Papas, is a strong-willed woman.
