Knucklehead

When his brother goes missing, mentally challenged Langston Bellows (Gbenga Akinnagbe) is alone in the Brooklyn housing projects without a protector. Langston, now under the power of his abusive mother (Alfre Woodard), must take charge of his own destiny. He sets out to discover the only doctor he feels can help him, a celebrity magazine columnist who promotes dubious prescription medicine combinations. If Langston can become "mentally excellent," he'll be able to move into his own apartment with his sweetheart, who may or may not be the product of his wishful thinking. The hunt for his mystery doctor and hero leads him into the corrupt world of pharmaceutical marketing, where he makes some unwelcome discoveries. Langston aspires to be free of his previous existence, from his mother, his neighborhood, and his jumbled thoughts, but everyone around him isn't who they appear.
