Red Sorghum

An old leper who owned a sorghum winery that is remote dies. Jiu'er, the wife purchased from the leper, and also her fan, identified only as"my Grandpa" by the narrator, simply take the winery and set up an idealized quasi-matriarchal community led by Jiu'er. When the area is subjected by the invaders and cut down the sorghum to make way for a path town climbs up and recharges since the sorghum grows anew.
