The Big Blue

Two men answer the call of the sea in this romantic fantasy-adventure. Enzo and jacques really are a pair of friends who have been close and who share a passion for the dangerous sport of freediving. Pro diver Jacques chose to follow in the footsteps. To the bewilderment of scientists, Jacques harbors an amazing capability to adjust his own heart rate and breathing pattern from the water, to ensure his vital signs more closely resemble that of dolphins than men (he even considers a school of dolphins as his extended family). Since Enzo persuades a reluctant Jacques to compete against him at a totally free diving competition -- determining who are able to dive deeper and longer without scuba gear -- Jacques matches Johana, a beautiful insurance investigator from America, and he discovers he must choose between his love for his love of the ocean.
