In 1983, private yacht seafarer Will Parker leads an American team funded by millionaire Morgan Weld to beat during the America's Mug race against an Australian crew. Established to obtain the reward back, Will certainly convinces Morgan to finance an experimental watercraft created by his ex-girlfriend Kate's new sweetheart, Joe Heisler. When the boat is completed, the Americans head to Australia to redeem the cup.
