G.B.H.

G.B.H.

GBH was a tv drama written by Alan Bleasdale shown on Channel 4. The protagonists have been the Militant Labour pioneer of a city council in the North of England, Michael Murray along with Jim Nelson, the headmaster of a school for troubled children. The show was contentious partly because Murray appeared to be predicated on Derek Hatton, former Deputy Leader of Liverpool City Council -- in a meeting in the G.B.H. DVD Bleasdale recounts an accidental interview with Hatton before the set, who indicates he has caught wind of Bleasdale's goals but will not mind as long as the actor playing him is"handsome". In ordinary parlance, the initials"GBH" reference the offender complaint of grievous bodily injury - yet, the true intent of these letters is it is assumed to endure Great British Holiday.
