Death of a Gunfighter
Marshal Frank Patch is an old-style lawman in the turn-of-the-century Texas town of Cottownwood Springs. The town leaders decide it's time for a change when he murders a drunken Luke Mills in self-defense. Patch refuses to resign because the town promised him a job for as long as he wanted it when he was hired. Fearful of the town's future, and much more so of Marshal Patch's knowledge of the town's dark secrets, the city fathers conclude that traditional violence is the only way to get rid of the unwanted lawman.
