The Departure
Ittetsu Nemoto, an aimless and rebellious former punk rocker-turned-Buddhist priest, is the subject of this intimate character study. His smart and caring advise has saved the lives of countless suicidal men and women in Japan. But, as he approaches middle age, with a wife and young son of his own, Nemoto learns that his life is in jeopardy due to heart illness, which is exacerbated by the enormous emotional burden of caring for those who no longer want to live. Can he find the resiliency to preserve himself when protecting others takes such a toll?
