The Devil's Trap

A priest visiting a tiny village on a covert mission pays a visit one day. He's a member of the Inquisition, and he's been dispatched to examine the activities of a local miller. The miller and his son are descended from a long-dead family whose ancestral home burned down a century ago and had to be rebuilt from the ground up. From centuries of family experience, the miller learned a great deal about the land, water, and the stability of a structure. His reputation for finding water and forecasting when a structure will collapse has caught the attention of the Inquisition; obviously he is working for the Devil.
